Clean Up Time on the Laramie River Greenbelt

UniWyo Federal Credit Union in Laramie, WY has been sponsoring a portion of the Laramie City Greenbelt for approximately 10 years. As a sponsor, it is their responsibility to keep a ¼ mile portion clean by going out at least once a year. The Laramie City Greenbelt is a paved path, mimicking a narrow road, that spans nearly 6 miles along the Laramie River, which divides Laramie from “west” Laramie. From 2009-2011 the Laramie Rivers Conservation District partnered with the city to do a large restoration project on the river along the Greenbelt, which has improved the natural habitat along and within the river, as well as help combat erosion. The money raised through sponsorships like ours is used to maintain the Greenbelt and Optimist Park, which is right along the pathway, featuring children’s play structures, an open soccer field, and a fenced in dog play area. The Greenbelt is utilized year round by many members of the community, you will always find someone walking, biking, or playing on or along the Greenbelt daily during the warmer months. UniWyo is a proud sponsor of this beautiful, popular city park and public space.

Teeing Up for a Good Cause

Northwoods Community Credit Union hosted its 16th Annual Charity Golf Classic on Saturday, July 15th at the Park Falls Country Club. All the proceeds were donated to a local non-profit community group.  A different beneficiary is chosen each year. This year Northwoods Community raised $5,581.16!

The beneficiary this year was the Price Ice Recreation Arena. The arena relies on fundraising, concessions, advertising and donations to meet their annual budget. The average cost to operate is approximately $1,000 per skater. One of the biggest fundraisers Price Ice Recreation Arena has are open skate nights. As benefactor of this year’s Golf Classic the arena plans to purchase 100 figure skates and 100 hockey skates to be used for rentals by the communities of Park Falls, Glidden, Butternut, Philips and surrounding areas. Providing quality skates is something that is very important to keeping the program alive and making skating enjoyable for all.
