    Employee Benefit Resources

23% - Why is this number so important?

That’s the difference in average Per Employee Per Year (PEPY) medical insurance costs of a credit union employee compared to the national average of an employee outside of the credit union movement. Through analytic claims data research of the nearly 7,000 lives insured through I-Care, we determined that the average PEPY cost for a credit union employee is $9,684 compared to the average $12,605 PEPY cost of other employees. Statistics show that healthier credit union employees deserve lower health insurance premiums and I-Care is leading the way to help credit unions negotiate better insurance options with enhanced benefit offerings. Financial Services Consulting

This time, things will be different.

QuantyPhi recently released a new whitepaper titled, “This Time, Things will be Different.” In the paper, Daniel McIntyre, Vice President Investment Services, discusses how pools of Small Business Administration loans can seem lucrative at first glance, but upon further inspection can create severe underperformance to credit union balance sheets. Specific examples of how improper analysis can lead to unfortunate choices are highlighted throughout the paper.

A webinar to augment the whitepaper will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. CT. See how a little due diligence can go a long way after learning about the features that put these securities near the top of the value list and those that flash warning signs for potential buyers. Register now.

Did you miss QuantyPhi’s November webinar about loan participations? Our partner, LoanStreet, presented about loan participation basics, the types of loans available, and showed what kinds of loans are trading in the secondary marketplace. Access the recorded webinar here.

    Did You Know?

Wearable technology monitors and trackers help motivate and educate – and that’s pretty cool.

Did you know that wearing tech devices that count your daily steps, record your heart rate, monitor your blood pressure, determine calories burned, calculate your respiratory rate, and even perform Electrocardiograms (ECG) are saving lives and helping to lessen the rising rates of health insurance?

Research reports from various industry groups indicate that wearable monitors and smart watches can provide data back to physicians and related insurance companies. In turn, the data is used to help professionally evaluate your personal wellbeing and even provide data analytics to help researchers gather new insights into Parkinson’s Disease, as well as alerting those who are experiencing atrial fibrillation. Amazing!

Wearing these devices has gone completely mainstream and usage has increased from 9% to 33% over the last four years alone. 75% of users agree that wearables help them engage with their own healthcare needs and to keep them motivated.

In the big corporate picture, wearing monitoring devices is dramatically influencing the decisions of insurers, health providers, and companies to take advantage of the benefits of wearable health monitoring devices and keeping employees healthier. A healthier corporate culture is shown to reduce employee turnover and employers who offer five or more well-being best practices had an average turnover rate of 18%, compared to 29% for those that offer two or fewer.
