    A Note From Chris

It’s incredible how the summer months fly by so fast. September is here, which means preparing our budgets and scheduling strategic planning sessions are right around the corner. To assist you with your planning efforts, we invite you to attend our annual Economic Outlook Conference on Thursday, October 10. Attendees will bring back to their credit unions valuable information about the current and upcoming economic environment from a diverse speaker lineup. I hope to see all of you there!

The “Hike the Hill” event in Washington D.C. is also coming up soon. It is a testament to the strength and passion of the movement when so many credit union leaders head to D.C. to connect with legislators and advocate on behalf of all our credit union members at the national level. If you have never attended a Hike the Hill event, I strongly encourage you to attend. Your voice matters!

    Thanks,

    Chris's Signature

How could a cashless future impact the credit union industry?

The verdict is in – society is moving toward a cashless future. According to a recent report by Visa, a mere 11% of consumers prefer cash payments to credit. This number will only decrease as members of Gen Z join the workforce and start to make financial decisions in today’s world. In fact, an Accenture survey found that “68% of Gen Z consumers are interested in instant person-to person payments – more than any other age group.” Credit unions must fervently answer this call and strategically plan for changing demographics and their dynamic needs.

I-Care’s Association Health Plan is launching in October!

The power of collaboration among credit unions continues to be pillar of our success as a movement. Thanks to a significant number of Wisconsin credit unions for evaluating and completing the I-Care Association Health Plan (AHP) feasibility study, which we are launching early next month! Credit unions with October medical insurance plan renewals are joining I-Care’s AHP, while several more credit unions with November, December, and January renewals have committed to joining the collaborative model soon. An AHP allows small employers to band together to purchase the types of competitive coverage that are typically only available to large employers, which can be less expensive and better tailored to the needs of their employees. Our feasibility study conducted throughout 2019 is proving to save credit unions money while delivering enhanced services to their HR departments. If you haven’t yet evaluated I-Care’s AHP, please contact us soon to discuss how the power of collaboration can positively impact the benefits you provide to your most important asset – your employees!
