    A Note from Chris

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that participated in and donated to our first annual Titletown Showdown Credit Union Challenge at City Stadium in Green Bay, WI. Together we raised over $10,000 for Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes. Congratulations to Capital Credit Union for putting together the winning team during our flag football competition!

As we approach this very special day in October – International Credit Union Day – I encourage everyone to reflect on the stories that shape your credit union and share the memories that you have made with your members. In my 20+ years in the credit union movement, I have found the stories of how credit unions impact the lives of members to be inspirational and key examples of our “difference.” Happy International Credit Union Day!

    Thank you,

    #iCreditUnion Videos

To help credit unions prepare for International Credit Union (ICU) Day, Corporate Central has created four short videos that credit unions can use as lead-ups to ICU Day celebrations. The videos are comprised of credit union members answering the question, “Why do you credit union?” and are extensions of Corporate Central’s #iCreditUnion annual meeting feature video already available to credit unions for employee appreciation, motivation, and training purposes.

The new #iCreditUnion videos are free and can be played in lobbies, lunchrooms, and meeting rooms as credit unions gear up for ICU Day celebrations that honor employees’ commitments to the people and communities they serve. They can also be posted to individual credit union websites. If you feel inspired by these videos, please share them with others, and share your own thoughts about why you credit union using #iCreditUnion in your social media posts.

    What's New & Who's Who

    Jef Radtke, Business Development Executive

    Jef Radtke

Why was Cinderella thrown off the basketball team? She ran away from the ball! One of our newest hires, Jef Radkte, understands the importance of teamwork and dedication. Not only has Jef successfully coached high school basketball teams over the past 25 years, he has also spent over two decades helping credit unions win by delivering cutting edge technology solutions. Slam dunk!

Getting to know... Corporate Central's Jef Radtke

    1. What is your favorite childhood memory? The simple world... everyone riding their bikes around town and stopping in the park to play ball, and when it was time for dinner, you would hear one of the moms calling us all home.
    2. What’s the craziest fashion trend you ever rocked? Corduroy bib overalls.
    3. What was the first concert you ever went to? Heart at the Brown County Veterans Memorial Arena.
    4. What’s the best prank you’ve ever played on someone? I pretended to be a local radio sports broadcaster and interviewed a fellow classmate about her upcoming big game. The following morning, her whole family was sitting around the radio to hear the taped “interview.” I still feel bad about how “well” the prank went.
    5. What is your favorite credit union story? I was calling on credit unions in the Michigan area. It was my first business meeting at Shiwassee Credit Union (now SageLink). After the meeting, I put my portfolio stuffed full of paper (they didn’t use Emergifi back then) on top of the car while I was putting my suit coat in the back seat. Wind scattered my papers all over the parking lot and even the nearby highway! Tons of their employees came out to help me pick up the papers that were blown all around. It showed me that credit unions truly help their members and their business partners.

    Jeff Lundgren, Cloud Migration Engineer

    Jeff Lundgren

If you ask Jeff Lundgren what music, guitars, and an American icon have in common, he would probably say the Harley celebration. The roads led Jeff to Milwaukee’s 100th Harley Davidson Anniversary Celebration where he played in a band at one of the music stages. A rare opportunity most of us could only dream about! Jeff is excited to help credit unions resolve their most complex technology projects, so you and your staff can focus on the things that matter most (like members, music, and motorcycles)!

Getting to know... Corporate Central's Jeff Lundgren

    1. Who was your childhood actor/actress crush? Farah Fawcett.
    2. What’s your strangest family tradition? During birthday parties, and after singing “Happy Birthday,” our family all sings a Norwegian Song about living a long happy life.
    3. What’s something about you that people would be surprised to know? I own 12 guitars and have put out 4 CDs. I play regularly, but not in public anymore.
    4. What band would you be embarrassed to admit you listen to? England Dan and John Ford Cooley.
    5. What is your favorite credit union story? After years of renting, I was going to purchase my first home. I went to my bank, at the time, to compare loan rates. I was shocked at the cost and the need for a large down-payment. I was told by a client to check out a credit union. I did, and within a few weeks had switched my bank accounts that I had for nearly 20 years to a credit union. I even received a no-closing-cost first-time home buyer package, and they walked me through the entire process. They made it very easy to be a home owner, and I have been a very happy member since!

QuantyPhi continued to focus on the education front in September. Nick Haisler presented in the Wednesday Webinar series with a look at Ginnie Mae adjustable rate mortgages. Over time, we have seen many members add these securities to the portfolio to protect the balance sheets from rising interest rates. Nick walked through the analytics showing that there are other options that outperform these types of securities, especially in instances where rates climb. He also showed alternative means to accomplish the rates up protection, if needed.

Liquidity will remain in focus with next month’s webinar covering liquidity inside the investment portfolio on Wednesday, October 17 at 12:00 p.m. CT. Have your popcorn ready and tune in!
